Grinding Sound When Braking


Car symptoms: You will hear a grinding sound when braking.
Auto diagnosis: Grinding sound while your car brakes is and indication of brake linings that excessively worn. When the brake lining is worn out down to its metal it will rubs against the brake disc or drum when you apply the brake your car, rubbing of metal to metal will creates grinding sound thus this is the sound you heard while braking. You have probably neglected to maintain your car brake that is why the linings worn out up to its metal.

Car diagnostic repair tip: Problem like this is costly to repair, bring your car to a reputable auto repair shop and have the brake lining replace with a new one. Most probably the affected portion either disc or drum has already been damage and need to smoothen the surface of the affected brakes. In this case it is necessary to machine the surface of the affected parts because of grinding. However, if the damage is extreme, no other option but to replace the discs or the drum whichever of the two is damage. Next time do not neglect the maintenance of your car brakes to avoid the problem of grinding sound when braking.
