Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe 2011

February 9th, 2012

The all-new 2011 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe is a stunning car and provides an excellent alternative to the BMW 3 Series Coupe and the Audi A5. As you would anticipate it is not cheap, but it is class. You can however find cheaper prices for the model when buying second hand through websites such as motors.co.uk.

This is the first C-Class coupe and it has taken Mercedes four years since the launch of the C-Class saloon to take this bold step. It is significantly lower than the saloon and has a very sporty persona that will appeal to the younger Mercedes aficionado as well as appealing to the older Mercedes enthusiast who still has the flame of youth burning brightly; the perfect mid-life crisis car, and we mean that kindly.

Inside the car is superb and is of tip-top quality. Even the three spoke sporty steering wheel is very special. The seating is soft, comfortable and supportive all at the same time and the dash and instrument panel are elegant and functional.

Naturally this model is not as practical as the saloon and seating in the rear although comfortable could be a little cramped for taller passengers, however the boot is of reasonable size (450 litres).

There are a number of engine options which range from a relatively modest 1.8-litre turbo petrol unit that develops 156 bhp right up to the 6.2 litre AMG petrol unit which develops 457 bhp which gives the car a 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of just 4.5 seconds, though the fuel consumption is around 20 mpg. Alternatively there are two twin turbocharged diesel options with provide either 170 bhp or 204 bhp. The most economical engines are the diesel units equipped with BlueEFFICIENCY; the C 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY delivers a fuel economy of 64.2 mpg.
If you are ever unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident, then one of the best places to be is in this car. Naturally it has a five star EuroNCAP rating, there are numerous airbags that include knee and pelvis protection and there is even a PRE-SAFE system which coordinates all electronic braking and stability aids whist preparing seat belts and occupant position prior to a potential impact.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe is just about the top car in its class.
