New Card Game Lets People Play Power Games in Congress
The U.S. Congress is the theme of a brand new political card game, created just in time for the red hot 2010 congressional elections. The name of the game: That's My Congress.
The idea behind That's My Congress is that players form teams of politicians in the House of Representatives, working to pass new legislation in order to gain points used to win re-election. The political context of these battles always changes, though, and opponents can play dirty tricks on each other using special "action cards".
It's a perfect game for political junkies to play at election night parties as they wait for results from the polls to come in. It's also a perfect tool for students who are learning about the way that government works - from high school students in history courses to poli sci majors looking for a fun bit of semi-professional bonding within the department. The game is fun and educational at the same time, with exciting action, and flexible strategy, but lots of opportunity for reflection upon the political process as well.
