Carl Crawford: The Poem

By ITISHIGHITISFAR on  From johnsterling.blogspot.com
Carl, in a happier time. Carl Crawford, Tampa Ray, Hit for power, raised the bar, Stole the bases, then one day, Took a lead one step too far. Carl Crawford, playing hard, His whole career, one great move up, Flashing leather! Going yard! And never tethered by a cup. Carl Crawford,Tampa's prince, Three time all-star, no one's fool. Made this planet watch and wince. A Ray with nuts, ground into gruel.Read Full Story

The Next Carl Crawford?

By abaseballnut on  From baseballticketsonline.org
I always enjoy looking at the transactions column in early September. Given that teams are allowed to go beyond the usual 25-man roster, it’s always interesting to see how it plays out. Which contenders will add a few spare parts for the stretch run? Which hot prospects will get a look? Among the latter, Tampa outfielder Desmond Jennings got the call and just made his major league debut. With the Rays still battling the Yankees for first, he may not see regular action, but he is definitely...Read Full Story

Carl Crawford And The Rays Can’t Talk “Contract”?

By abaseballnut on  From baseballticketsonline.org
photo credit: Stefano A Carl Crawford and the Tampa Bay Rays couldn’t agree on anything apparently, so they’ve halted their contract talks.  This is supposed to mean that a new deal will have to wait until after the season.  The Rays don’t comment on contract negotiations, but if they can’t get this thing done then you have to wonder: A.  If Carl and Tampa can’t come to an agreement–who can’t along with who?  There’s some kind of tension there.  I know Carl’s a great player and the Rays...Read Full Story

Redsocks probed Carl Crawford

By ITISHIGHITISFAR on  From johnsterling.blogspot.com
Some call it a "background check." Some call it a "backdoor investigation." Saturday, the Beantown Brownshirts were tap-dancing like Fred Wilpon at a $100 talent show over a report that they paid secret agents to hydrofrack Carl Crawford, scouring every pimple of the former Devil Ray for a tattoo or skin piercing, a vein of Charlie Sheen, before the Boston owners' insectlike pincers would sign the check that transformed Crawford into Redsock sainthood. We know it's true, because they deny it...Read Full Story

Prince Fielder signed a nine-year, $214 million deal with the Tigers earlier this week. It seemingly came out of nowhere, but the Tigers, Nationals, Dodgers, and possibly others were all in on Fielder seriously, just under the radar. That was the price it took to sign the first baseman, and while other teams decided not paying at all beat signing up for nine years of a guy whose body might betray him as he ages, the Tigers took...

Carl Crawford Had "Routine" Wrist Surgery This news coming right after the announcement that Victor Martinez will miss all of 2012 for Detroit due to surgery to repair a torn ACL in his knee, too. According to Brian MacPherson (who I saw this come from first) Cherington won't rule out Crawford for Opening Day. And maybe this will help him out in 2012.
