Since her wedding to French President Nicolas Sarkozy less than a year ago, -Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has made waves over what she does –and doesn’t– wear, most recently suing a fashion chain for nearly $170,000 for printing a nude image of her on tote bags. Beautiful and bionic, serial heart-wrecker, rocker arm candy, arrogant heiress, polling gimmick — the first lady of France has been called all this and more.

Aguas Ocana: Honduran first lady Aguas Ocana, a former Spanish diplomat with an affable manner, charms her way through state dinners and genteel charity events. But her nocturnal jaunts is what makes this gorgeous First Lady the talk of the town. Dressed in jeans and a sweater, the wife of conservative President Ricardo Maduro leads teams of police and social workers who grab children off the streets whether they like it or not and take them to government shelters.

Queen Rania of Jordan: Her Majesty Queen Rania is the world’s youngest queen. A Coldplay fan, she’s also a fashion designer’s darling (Givenchy and Roland Mouret are favorites), a Desperate Housewives devotee and an outspoken advocate in her Muslim country for long-taboo causes like women’s rights and victims of child abuse.
