This is What the British Press Calls a 'Fashion Showdown'

Yesterday, French president Nicolas Sarkozy's wife, ex-model Carla Bruni, met Princess Letizia of Spain. Both women are youthful, gorgeous, and well-renowned for their fashion sense, so the British press is having a field day with these pictures, calling the diplomatic affair a "fashion showdown."

The immediate cause for comparison is probably the similar lengths of the women's dresses. Carla Bruni wore a simple, retro Christian Dior dress with black Louboutin kitten heels, while Princess Letizia wore a raspberry Felipe Varela dress with lavender croc platforms.

Most critics have named Princess Letizia "the winner" of this imaginary rivalry on the basis of color alone, as many critics think Carla's look is "too conservative." What do you think?
