Carlos Barredo of Quickstep got into a fist fight today with rival Rui Costa. Reports indicate that Barredo attacked Costa after crossing the finish line of Stage 6 of the Tour de France. Le Tour isn't usually someplace you see fist fights, and the organizers were wuick to scold both athletes and slap them with fines.
Carlos Varredo and Rui Costa got into a fight after Stage 6 of Le Tour. The scuffle was broken up before either rider got hurt. Costa and Barredo will continue racing in Le Tour 2010 tomorrow. Both competitors were given fines of 400 Swiss Francs (about $380 US dollars) for 'insults, threats and incorrect behaviour'.
Mark Cavendish won Stage 6 today in a final sprint. Fabian Cancellara maintains his overall lead and will ride in the yellow jersey tomorrow. However, all eyes are on Alberto Contador, Lance Armstrong, and Cadel Evans now that the tour is getting into the mountains.
The Quick Step team used "by the book" tactics on Saturday to deliver Carlos Barredo to the finish, where he was able to outsprint Liquigas' Roman Kreuziger for the win at a wet San Sebastian...
