Now We Know Who Carly Simon’s ‘So Vain’ Is
You know thing you have been wondering about for more than forty years? The answer to who the hell was the subject of vanity in Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain” song? Well now we know and Carly herself revealed it. It’s about time Carly. If you had waited a few more years it probably wouldn’t have made a difference. Anyway, the “vain” person Carly meant is mega entertainment mogul David Geffen.
Apparently she wrote this about him because at the time, David was Carly’s boss and back then David backed Joni Mitchell’s career over Carly’s. Although for years Carly alluded to the fact that the “vain” subject I her song was a composite of many men she knew, she now reveals it isn’t Warren Beatty, Mick Jagger, Kris Kristofferson, or Cat Stevens like we all thought.
