Some fans are complaining because Hennessy is a semi-pro singer. She was given a $2.2 million production budget from MCA Records in 2005, but failed to sell any records. Hennessy is hoping that American Idol will boost her popularity.

Brooke White and Carly Smithson turned in strong performances tonight, but it was clear that the American Idol Top 8 girls have a long, long way to go to catch up to the guys.
