Buy a Truck, Get a Car for Free

Darcars Ford is offering a special on their left over 2007 Ford trucks which buyers have a choice on getting forty percent off the suggested retail price of 34,660.00 or pay the full price and get a free 2008 Ford Focus worth 17,700.00. It would be an understatement to say that trucks aren't selling well. Honestly, it's probably safe to say trucks aren't selling at all.

No one wants to buy a truck when gas is well above $3.00 a gallon and you know you'll only get between seven and 10 miles to the gallon. In fact, people who own trucks are trying to get rid of them.

Still, you have to admit you'd be kind of tempted to buy a truck if you also got a car for free. Well in Lanham, Maryland, one car dealer is trying this ploy.

Car shoppers have the choice of buying a 2007 Ford F150 for $34,4660 and getting a 2008 Ford Focus for free, or just taking the truck and getting 40 percent off.

Kind of tempting. Still, you'd be an idiot to buy a truck, especially a Ford right now. Sure, you'd get a car for free, but in the end you'd be paying way more than the car's value in gas.

FYI: A 2007 Ford F150 four-wheel-drive gets a city and highway combined 14 mpg, which means you'd have to fill up a lot.

Here's an idea: buy a Focus, get a truck for free. The lot would probably get more buyers.
