Cary Elwes news, related photos and videos, and reviews of Cary Elwes performances. According to Wikipedia: Ivan Simon Cary Elwes is an English actor credited as Cary Elwes, best known for his performances in The Princess Bride, Robin Hood: Men in Tights and Saw. In 2004, he portrayed one of the most notorious serial killers of all time, Ted Bundy in the award-nominated telefilm The Riverman. In 2005, he played Pope John Paul II from his early years until his election as pope, in an internationally-acclaimed CBS film.
Their Love Was Like A Storybook Story - Happy 20th Anniversary PRINCESS BRIDE
Happy 20th Anniversary to The Princess Bride. If you haven’t seen it lately, it’s always a good bet to pop in the Betamax/ VCR/ Laserdisk/ DVD/ Computer/ Blu-ray/ Download/ On Demand/ ESP and look back at the careers that took flight from this fantasy we don’t even feel a little big guilty about indulging in. - Cary Elwes filled juicy roles in Days Of Thunder, Hot Shots!, Dracula, The X Files, and Liar Liar, which should be paying dividends for years to come. With his talent for both the dramatic arc and comic timing, he graduated to lead roles in feature films like Robin Hood: Men In Tights and Kiss The Girls, in which his sultry hypnotic voiceover almost made us forget we were watching yet another predictably gratuitous crappy violence against women flick. But gratuitous violence was good to him, and in 2004 he took another lead in the original version of Saw, which cements his honor in the Horror Hall of Fame, if such a thing exists.
- While Robin Wright seems to be particularly adored among the independent film crowd, she took leading roles in smaller feature films including Moll Flanders and Message In A Bottle. She is best known for playing Forrest Gump’s girlfriend and wife Jenny in the 1994 Oscar winner for Best Film.
- Christopher Guest (the six-fingered man) is of course the father of the modern mockumentary. He had already brought us This Is Spinal Tap by the time he dawned an extra finger and a fencing sword, and he went on to create and star in Waiting for Guffman, Best In Show, A Mighty Wind, and his most recent For Your Consideration, which mocks the award industry.
- Mandy Patinkin had already wowed Broadway audiences with his portrayal of painter Georges Seurat in Stephen Sondheim’s complex musical Sunday In The Park With George, which was nominated for 10 Tony awards and won the 1985 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Patinkin, who sings like the first seat in an angel’s choir, has also enjoyed much television and film success since his days dedicated to revenge. He weaves sold-out concerts in with his acting, and played back to back roles in two of the decade’s most underrated films, Impropmtu and The Doctor. He won an Emmy for his portrayal of Dr. Jeffry Geiger on the hit series Chicago Hope, and can currently be seen in the lead role on CBS’s Criminal Minds, which he's about to lose, because sadly he's a complete wanker in person.
- And who could forget lovable Fred Savage, who played Arnold on The Wonder Years. While continuing a successful acting career including a role in Austin Powers In Goldmember, Savage has also branched into directing, and has under his belt three episodes of one of the funniest shows on current air, It’s Always Sunny In Philidelphia.
So the next time you’re out celebrating, raise a glass to Rob Riener and his lovable band of medieval misfits for their work which, both together and separately, has entertained us for the last 20 years.
