Casey Anthony

I cannot imagine a soul in America who doesn’t believe Casey Anthony is guilty of the disappearance and presumably the death of her precious daughter.

However, I am annoyed at some of the straws the media is grasping:

For one, the anti-death penalty cartoon found on her computer:

The cartoon found on Casey's computer

The cartoon found on Casey's computer

Seriously? An anti-death penalty cartoon is being used against her in the media? I don’t get that one. Because there’s a little girl and a teddy bear? I don’t see the connection between this cartoon and the fact that she is a liar and probably a murderer.

Next: The fact that she called Caylee a “little snot head.” Now, I have read the transcript. It was in an IM conversation with an ex. He is trying to get her to come over (presumably for sex). She asks, “want me to bring the little snot head?”

Elsewhere in the conversation she talks about putting Caylee and her job before other priorities. (I know, I know….she’s a liar). She writes about getting Caylee food (when she had to step away from the conversation).

Anyway, I just do not see that as very damning. Nancy Grace on the other hand…

I call my babies silly names all the time (not to them, but about them). Today, I asked my sister how my little heathen is. Does that mean I hate him and will murder him? Of course not. Do I really think he’s a heathen? Of course not. But would Nancy Grace scream it from behind her desk with a scowl on her face? Of course!

True–the context in which she said it was also not how I would say such a thing. But I also don’t think she meant it as negatively as the media is making it.

I hope they find Caylee. I hope they can prosecute Casey to the full extent of the law. I hope the truth comes out. I hope Casey finally breaks down and tells the truth (not likely).

But: if the story is going to continue to play itself out in the public eye, I would appreciate it if the media would focus on true evidence and pertinent facts. Grasping for straws like these is desperate, annoying, and sensationalizing and, most importantly, not doing any good in helping to find Caylee.
