The Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to a deal with nose tackle Casey Hampton and placed the franchise tag on kicker Jeff Reed. ESPN first reported the agreement with Hampton, and Kevin Colbert, the team's director of football operations, confirmed it Thursday at the NFL Scouting Combine. ESPN reported the deal was for three-years and $21 million, including $11 million guaranteed. Colbert declined to offer specifics. By a team vote, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected four players as this season's team captains yesterday. For the first time since playing for the Steelers, Ben Roethlisberger and Jeff Reed were named captains. Roethlisberger will serve as offensive co-captain alongside Hines Ward and Reed will serve as the Steelers special teams captain.
