After starring in a number of television films and small roles in films, she came to prominence with roles in films such as "The Phantom," "The Mask of Zorro," and "Entrapment" in the late 1990s. Angela Lansbury will be the first recipient of the Stephen Sondheim Award from a Washington-area theater that has produced more of his works than any other U.S. theater. Signature Theatre announced Thursday that it will honor Lansbury at a gala celebration in April. Lansbury is a five-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical star. Two of her Tonys are for Sondheim musicals — the 1974 revival of "Gypsy" and "Sweeney Todd" in 1979. Lansbury's first musical theater appearance was in "Anyone Can Whistle." LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Oscar-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones will make her Broadway debut in a revival of Stephen Sondheim's "A Little Night Music," producers said on Tuesday. The British actress, who won an Oscar for her supporting role in the 2006 screen adaptation of the musical "Chicago," will play Desiree Armfeldt, singer of the hit ballad "Send in the Clowns." There will be more than a little star power in the upcoming Broadway revival of "A Little Night Music," the Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical. Catherine Zeta (ZEE'-tuh)-Jones and Angela Lansbury will share top billing in the production which begins preview performances Nov. 24 and opens Dec. 13 at the Walter Kerr (kur) Theatre. Zeta-Jones will make her Broadway debut in the production, which will be directed by Trevor Nunn. The musical also will feature Alexander Hanson, who appeared in Nunn's recent London production.
