According to an online news article (
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30504078/), a burglar in a northwestern Pennsylvania town broke into a home and stole jellybeans from the dining room table. Nothing else was disturbed. Nothing else was taken.
I’m assuming that most of us will think that this is rather bizarre. Risking a jail sentence for jellybeans? As my parents used to say, “What were you thinking?”
I wonder if sometime the Lord views our activities in a similar fashion. He has created a glorious world full of marvels for us to enjoy, and we waste opportunities to enjoy the very best of these. Instead, we risk the freedom he bestowed on us for trifles.
See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
- Deuteronomy 30:15-16
