Reasons behind Websites that get banned from Google

Why do Website get banned from Google?

This is one subject that you are destined to hear when ever you are in a webmaster forum, one which has many answers and questions. Here i will out lay the main reasons why a website may be banned from Google, remember this is one thing no webmaster could possibly want as it can seriously harm and damage the reputation of the website along with the owner of a website.

There are many on-page ranking factors and off-page ranking factors that can cause Google to ban your website. Below i will outlay the on-page factors that could result in your website being banned from Google.

Firstly! you must understand that a lot of web sites online today still incorporate such techniques and these web sites still get away with doing these. The techniques i will mention below do not help your rankings and are simply a waste of time, they are in no way a best practice of SEO and the marketing of your website. Sooner or later Google will catch up to these web sites and will remove them from it's index. It's just not worth the risk of incorporating such practises, when in doing so no longer helps your ranking of your website.

Hidden Text

Hidden Text is simply text that users can't see when they visit your web page. Some webmaster will do this so that they can add keywords throughout their web page without it interfering with what the visitors actually see. Yet, the search engines can still see hidden text.

For example, let's say you have a white background on your website. If you wanted to hide text, you would simply make the color of your text white (#FFFFFF) and users couldn't see it.

ALT Image tag, Spamming

This is another way that people will try to cram keywords into their website, allowing search engines to see their keywords, but not allowing visitors to notice any difference in their website.

For example, When entering your alt tag you repeated use your top keywords and enter long descriptive tags about your website, service or product. take the line of code below, this is a perfect example of inserting the code into your HTML. The alt tag is used properly giving users and search engines a quick but well informed description of the image which should be in place here.

<img class="c1" src="http://cbarker.ws" alt="resonate equilibrium banner.gif"
style="border: 0pt none ; width: 468px; height: 60px;" />

Below is an example of how not to use the alt tag, By using the alt tag as shown in the description below will class as alt tag spamming and will have serious repercussions on your web sites ranking and future as a whole. Notice how i have used my primary, top keywords within the alt tag (underlined).

<img class="c1" src="http://cbarker.ws" alt="Resonate Equilibrium Cbarker.ws, Resonate SEO SEM
Web Analytics Consultant, Cbarker.ws SEO SEM, Resonate SEO SEM, Resonate Web Standards, Resonate
Web development,
Resonate Web Innovation, Cbarker.ws Yorkshire SEO SEM, Resonate Yorkshire SEO SEM,"
style="border: 0pt none ; width: 468px; height: 60px;" />

The real purpose of an alt image tag is if a user visits your website and the graphic will not load, or is disabled by their web browser, text will appear instead of the graphic. This is often used for blind people. Alt image spamming is something you want to stay clear of. Using alt image tags are good, but you can over do it, as you can see above. A good alt image tag in this case would simply be as in the first instance Resonate Equilibrium Banner.gif.

META Tag Spamming

Don't be fooled as META tag spamming is one of the main reasons of a website being rejected and banned by Google. What I'm referring to here is when people throw in thousands of the same exact keyword into their meta tags.

For example, the following meta tag is the one that i use through out this website, Please note that this meta tag is optimized perfectly for this website alone covering the top keywords that this website uses. This is how a proper meta tag should look like:

<meta name="keywords" content="Resonate Equilibrium Cbarker.ws, Resonate SEO SEM Web Analytics Consultant,
Cbarker.ws SEO SEM, Resonate SEO SEM, Resonate Web Standards, Resonate Web development,
Resonate Web Innovation, Cbarker.ws Yorkshire SEO SEM, Resonate Yorkshire SEO SEM," />

The Keywords used above are not repeated in any way even though they may contain the same words. Below is an example of meta tag spamming these practices will be punished by Google resulting in your website being banned from the Google index.

<meta name="keywords" content="SEO, SEo, Seo, seo, sEo, sEO, seO, S E O, s e o, seo, seo,
seo, se0, SE0, SEO, SE, O, SEO, seo SEO, SEo, Seo, seo, sEo, sEO, seO, S E O, s e o,
seo, seo,seo, se0, SE0, SEO, SE, O, SEO, seo" />

This is obviously ridiculous. Google, and other search engines no longer use Meta Tags to rank web sites. Google WILL penalize it, and it WILL NOT help you... so, why would anyone do something like this? Stay away from it.

Title Tag Spamming

The Title Tag is the blue strip at the top of your internet browser (windows users), It usually contains the main page title that your browser has currently landed on and is viewing. see the image below:

wyz_scr.jpgThe Title tag is were the text "Wyzo - BitTorrent - Wyzo" is located.

When i mention title tag spamming i simply mean like the other references and obsessive and countless numbers of keywords are used within this section.

Don't do it... You only need to include your keyword(s) one time in your title tag.

Anymore than 1 time will only dilute the effect, and if you over do it as shown above, you may get severely penalized and drop in the rankings.

Those are just a few of the things that people are continuing to do online in order to increase there website rankings. These things will eventually get the offending website banned or penalized and will in no way help the website rank well. It's just a waste of time and effort, plus it's just plain ignorant to waste your time on something that doesn't work and will get your website banned from the search engines anyway.

Hopefully i have pointed out some valuable information and advice to webmaster and seo who have thought or are intending to use the methods outlined above as a SEO myself i advise you to not in any way test or carry out such methods as it will have serious repercussions on your website and domain, They best way maybe the hardest way but the outcome will always be greater.
