Just months after David Letterman had finally tied the knot (at 60!) with longtime love Regina Lasko, he announced on his late night show that he'd been the target of an extortion attempt. CBS employee Joe Halderman allegedly tried to blackmail him for $2 million, threatening to tell everyone Letterman had had an affair with his employee, Stephanie Birkitt. Letterman admitted to infidelity and publicly apologized to his wife on air.
