Oysters are the most seductive food of all, being totally complete in every way, containing all the vitamins, minerals and protein to tone the system on this special night.
The London Oyster Guide lists many retail shops and markets where oysters are available for those who prefer to have the special evening of dining in their own home. With oysters it's easy to develop the ambience without the buzz and seductive air that restaurants aim to create on this evening. Here is what to do; it should achieve the right results.
Ensure you and your partner are relaxed in casual clothing. Prepare the dozen oysters with accompaniments of Tabasco sauce, lemon wedges and pepper. Keep the oysters on the half shell reserving all the liquid. Have the Champagne or wine poured ready, with a tea or dessert spoon to 'feed' each other. Have two empty glasses for the oyster liquid.
One partner lies comfortably on their back and reveals the middle torso. The partner takes the smallest oyster, lifts it from the shell and places it on the belly button with a small amount of oyster juice as appropriate. Pour excess liquid into a wine glass. Placing hands delicately on the torso, eat the oyster directly from the belly button in one delicious slurp. Then pour a spoonful of Champagne or wine into the belly button, and repeat, ensuring every drop of liquid is finished.
Swop places and repeat, and then after each oyster swop again. Make it interesting by adding a touch of Tabasco, a squeeze of lemon juice, or a twist of pepper to the oyster. Finish on the largest oysters and continue drinking wine in this fashion as you wish. Finally top up the glasses of oyster juice with Champagne, stand with belly buttons together, link arms and sip the elixir from the glass until finished.
Continue the meal or the evening in the appropriate manner. Starting with oysters will be fun for both participants.
The London Oyster Guide lists over 150 restaurants, bars and gastropubs that will be fitting venues to take one's love for a seductive dinner this St Valentine's night on February 14, should you decide to dine out.
