For fans, losing a beloved celebrity can be an odd thing. While it's certainly sad to lose a favorite star, it's rarely something people grieve about because fans are so far removed from the star's day-to-day life.

Actors such as Corey Haim and Dennis Hopper inspired large outpourings of support as they passed away in 2010. Alexander McQueen was openly grieved by many in the fashion world even as several models wore his distinct dresses on red carpets to pay tribute to a man who changed their industry.
