Tisdale usually opts for edgier hair looks that work with her downtown approach to red carpet clothing: think messy ponytails, voluminous half up, half down hairstyles, and two-toned extensions.
The messy, gathered ponytail a brunette Tisdale sported at the 2009 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards was both edgy and original. Tisdale's stylist left chunky face-framing layers loose, and curled the rest of Tisdale's hair before fastening it with elastics at different lengths along the tail. Tisdale wore it to the side for extra attitude.
