Selena Gomez is one of few Disney stars to do the unthinkable. No, she hasn't posed for a controversial photograph or two, but she's cut her hair.

Think about it: all the major Disney ladies have long, curly manes, including Miley, Vanessa, and Ashley. Selena sported a similar look for a long time - which she styled perfectly - before she trimmed it to near shoulder-length last year.

Selena's updos are perfect inspiration for prom. She's mastered the art of looking elegant without appearing overdone, which is no small feat.

The low, side ponytail Selena wears in the pictures above is a great, modern look for the girl who doesn't want to show up with the same hairstyle as everyone else. It's sexy, thanks to the volume crowning her face, and casual-looking. If you have bangs, however, it might be hard to pull this off without the help of lots of bobby pins.
