Legalization of Marijuana Petition to Receive White House Response
After about 30 days the petition not so much as to legalize marijuana, but for the Administration to at least consider the legalization of marijuana and regulate it like alcohol received over 70,000 signatures or over 14 times what was needed to receive a response by the White House. There has not been a response yet.
I personally signed the petition and have been a member of the campaign for many years. I do not smoke marijuana anymore, but did my research and contrary to what many might believe, it is not about Americans wanting to get high. It is about stopping an oppressive law that has over 1.1 million people incarcerated in federal prison, which is 1 out of 6 Federal Inmates.
It is about the costs to continue prohibition to include but not limited to; Law enforcement costs, incarceration costs, prosecution costs and the loss of tax revenue and a great opportunity to stimulate the economy. I believe that an anti-legalization of Marijuana position is a pro drug cartel sympathizer.
I think a good response by the White House is to request that the committees below at least report on; HR 2306. HR-{2306}: To limit the application of Federal Laws to the distribution and consumption of Marijuana, and for other purposes.
House Energy and Commerce, Subcommittee on Health
House Judiciary, Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security
Anything short of a report by these committees would be a shame against the America people.
Sincerely,
Rev. Paul
