(Trade Delgado and Beltran…C’mon) & (An interesting Mets-Yanks Swap)

By MajorLeagueBlogging on  From majorleagueblogging.com
As per (to be redundant) The The Eddie Kranepool Society, we should trade both Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran. Basically, the personality/mentality point is brought up again. Well I don’t really know why the Mets would trade a fantastic defensive and offensive centerfielder and a hr-rbi 1b at this point in the season when the division is up for grabs (not to mention the current win streak – uh…finally) – maybe because it’s the most we could get for Carlos Beltran for the rest of his career...Read Full Story

Will Mets Regret Passing Bradford Again?

By msilva177 on  From nybaseballdigest.com
Joel Sherman reported yesterday that the Mets passed on Chad Bradford and his 3.5 million dollar salary in 2009. This would be the second time in three off seasons that the Mets spurned Bradford. The term penny wise and pound foolish came to mind when I heard this news. Omar Minaya has been criticized, to this day, for the mistakes of the 2006-2007 off season. If you remember, that was the period of time in which he traded Heath Bell, Royce Ring, Matt Lindstrom, and Henry Owens for the...Read Full Story

Rumors: Putz, Bradford become available!

By dnuka on  From ddmetsfanblog.com
According to NY Post Joel Sherman, relievers J.J. Putz and Chad Bradford have become available. The Mets have a interest in Putz because he is cost efficient and the Mets like his stuff. Putz is due $5 million in 2009 with an $8.6 million option in 2010 or a $1 million buyout. According to Sherman, the Mets plan to speak to Seattle during the winter meetings about Putz, but might have competition by many including the Indians for his services. Putz has been labeled by many as the top closer...Read Full Story

New York Mets: Off The Diamond

By dnuka on  From ddmetsfanblog.com
Its known the Mets' players are great in the community. I just want to show you three of them who have done a great job and deserve a lot of credit.Fernando Tatis Fernando Tatis is one of the best baseball story’s of the 2008 season. He took a two-year break from baseball. Why did he come back? He came back to baseball in 2006 so he can buy land for a new church in San Pedro, his home town. The Orioles invited him to spring training and and he came up to the Majors in the same season on July...Read Full Story

Sad times at Shea!

By dnuka on  From ddmetsfanblog.blogspot.com
What started out good for the Mets on Friday has turned into a disaster. The two best pitchers of the Mets , Martinez and Santana could not get it done against the Yanks. The bats have turned cold again and it's time to clean house and get some movement towards next year. I do not see any team spirit on this team and it shows. The team looks like they don't get along and it is very hard to watch. If I was Minaya I would be in selling mode and get rid of all this bad blood. He is the one who...Read Full Story

Chad Bradford in the House

By msilva177 on  From nybaseballdigest.com
Not quite, but read this via Newsday’s David Lennon: Sean Green approaching Chad Bradford territory with low sidearm delivery. Not quite scraping ground, but close. Looked good with it though. If my memory serves me correctly Green started messing with this delivery last September. I thought of Bradford right away when I saw it. Green was suppose to be the “sleeper” in the J.J Putz deal, right now he may be all the Mets can hope for in terms of value. The early part of 2009 he was “kerosene...Read Full Story

Mets pick up Delgado's option for '09

By dnuka on  From ddmetsfanblog.com
In the NY Post, The Mets followed through on the recent promise by GM Omar Minaya to pick up their $12 million option on the final year of first baseman Carlos Delgado Carlos Delgado 's contract.Delgado, 36, is coming off a roller-coaster season that saw him get off to a terrible start before suddenly (and suspiciously) emerging as the Mets' MVP almost the instant that Willie Randolph was replaced by Jerry Manuel.Delgado ended up hitting .271 with a team-high 38 homers and 115 RBIs. The Mets...Read Full Story
