Chad Lowe On Fatherhood: It's 'The Hardest Job You Will Ever Love'

There are a lot of men in the Lowe family. In fact, there hasn't been a Lowe baby girl in 72 years! For 4 generations all the kids born to Rob and Chad 's family have been boys. So, when Chad's daughter Mabel was born in May, we imagine there was much rejoicing. The proud new dad told People magazine: "You can imagine the position she is in, she is the only girl. She has got a lot of doting uncles and cousins. She is beloved."

We're sure little Mabel is going to definitely be rocking the pink and princess thing as the token little lady. But, for now, she's keeping everyone up at night. Not that her parents seem to mind too much, though.

Chad said about Kim Painter, who is a film producer and his soon-to-be wife: "Kim is extraordinary with the baby. I can't believe my good fortune to have a partner that is as committed, loving, tolerant and present as she is. She is the best mom I could ever imagine."

The Life Goes On and 24 actor sounds like a pretty good dad himself, he even shares night duty: "I get up for feedings and try to experience a little bit of what mommies have to go through, which is the sleepless nights," he said. 

Even as a Hollywood actor who's got to have a pretty hectic schedule, he says being a father is the toughest gig he's faced yet -- but it's worth it. "It is the hardest job you will ever love," he said. "I love it more than anything."
