Charles Grodin has never been asked back to host Saturday Night Live, after he gave a clumsy performance in October 1977. The story goes like this: Grodin missed rehearsals, then stumbled his way through the entire SNL show. He forgot lines and began to ad-lib during multiple skits. The SNL cast and management team was less than thrilled.

Grodin has never been asked back to the show. But he has been on other late night TV shows, including David Letterman.
