He was convicted of conspiracy to commit the Tate-LaBianca murders which were carried out by his "Manson Family" members, though he was never convicted of killing anyone himself. He remains in jail.

Susan Atkins , a former member of the Manson family may be granted an early release from prison because she has less than six months to live. Atkins requested a "compassionate release" from the prison, but has yet to disclose the nature of her illness.
