Kansas Hires Charlie Weis

Charlie Weis is getting another shot at being a college head coach, he accepted an offer on Thursday to coach the Kansas Jayhawks.

Weis is wrapping up his first season as offensive coordinator at Florida and will be introduced as the Kansas head coach during a news conference Friday.

Kanas fired Turner Gill in November, he signed a five-year deal with $10 million guaranteed with the Jayhawks, which means the school still owes him $6 million. 

Weis is a longtime NFL assistant, he began his coaching career under Bill Parcells with the Giants then coached with the Patriots, Jets and then returned to New England assisting the team to three Super Bowl victories.  

Weis became the head coach of Notre Dame in 2005 and went 35-27 in five seasons.  He then went back to the NFL and coached one season with the Kansas City Chiefs followed by assisting the Florida Gators this season.
