Charlize Theron is a former model, so she looks gorgeous in just about anything. But this lavender Dior gown was a polarizing choice for her on the Oscars red carpet, thanks to the detail around the chest.

Theron almost always wears Dior, thanks to her promotional agreement with the line. This gown has unusual rose-shaped pieces of fabric right over the chest area, which detracts from the rest of the ensemble -- in fact, the eye is drawn more to her chest than to her face. Besides that detail, however, the gown is mostly unremarkable.
Charlize won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2003, taking home a statuette for her performance as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the much-acclaimed drama Monster. Theron, a Dior spokesmodel, has said that the orange Vera Wang dress she wore to the Oscars in 2000 prevented her from landing serious film roles at one point, as it established her as a Hollywood bombshell.
