Padres Trade Candidate: Chase Headley

By epadaon on  From chickenfriars.com
I’ve written here before that I thought it would be a mistake to trade Chase Headley, but that I also thought the Could Headley be the next Padre to be traded? (Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE) Padres were going to do so.  However, when the team moved Jedd Gyorko‘s position in Double-A, it seemed they were intent on keeping Headley and having Gyorko play another infield position.  Now, with well over a quarter of the season gone, the Padres toiling away in last place, and a new owner on the...Read Full Story

Padres Out-Slugged by Cubs

By epadaon on  From chickenfriars.com
Despite four home runs from San Diego, the Padres fell to the Chicago Cubs 11-7.  The Cubs had previously lost 12 games in a row, but the win snapped that streak and has now put the Padres skid to four in a row.  San Diego has also lost seven of their last eight. The game at Wrigley saw a rare offensive explosion from the Padres.  Chase Headley hit two home runs, Will Chase Headley's huge day wasn't enough to lift the Padres past the Cubs. (Jerry Lai-US PRESSWIRE) Venable went deep, and...Read Full Story

Throwdown Thursday – Week 2

By epadaon on  From chickenfriars.com
Every Thursday, we at Chicken Friars will pick the two best Padres performers over the past week and analyze what they accomplished. Then we will leave it up to you, the fans, to decide who earned the week’s Throwdown Thursday’s honor. First of all, I’d like to congratulate Clayton Richard for making history here on Chicken Friars. Richard became the first-ever Padres’ player to win the distinct honor of being crowned Throwdown Thursday champion by garnering 55  percent of the fans’ vote...Read Full Story

Chase Headley Extension, Jedd Gyorko Position Change on the Horizon?

By epadaon on  From chickenfriars.com
Chase Headley is the best Padres hitter right now.  After Sunday’s game, he is hitting .293/.432/.603.  He has 4 home runs and six doubles on the season.  His OPS is highest of anyone on the team right now.  Yet, Headley has been the one mainstay of the Padres who has not yet received a contract extension.  Headley has sat back and watched Cameron Maybin, Nick Hundley, and Cory Luebke all receive extensions.  The Padres third baseman may be due to get his contract now if we consider a...Read Full Story

Chase Headley Could Be Padres Best/Only Option to Make All-Star Team in 2012

By epadaon on  From chickenfriars.com
If I truly wanted to be a “Negative Nancy” today I would harp on the state of the Padres and some of the laughable yet sad moments which have happened to our Friars over the last couple of weeks (i.e.: 4 Walks to Lose Game & Triple Play in L.A., Getting Shut Out by Jamie Moyer, the 6th Inning Last Night or the double digit K’s, etc.). Headley has been the Padres most consistent player so far this season. Mandatory Credit: Chris Humphreys-US PRESSWIRE But hey, you can only play the “woe as...Read Full Story
Chase Headley homers twice for Padres
Headley had just one homer in five weeks entering the day. With seven homers and 25 RBI, he still has decent power numbers for the season, but that's mostly thanks to the events of the first half of April.
