When you take a look at NBA previews , November 3 2008 could just go down as the biggest day in the history of the Denver Nuggets – the day Chauncey Billups came home.
Billups has always been a legend in the Mile High City after his time at the University of Colorado, where his No 4 jersey was retired, but what he has done since returning for the loss of only the underwhelming Allen Iverson has elevated him towards God-like status.
The 2008/9 Nuggets, who have already... Read Full Story
The lives and NBA careers of Chauncey Billups and Allen Iverson have converged quite often over the last year and much to Iverson’s dismay Billups has consistently come up looking better in almost all situations. There was of course the infamous trade last year that sent Billups tto the Denver Nuggets and Iverson to the Detroit Pistons. That would result in the Nuggets making the NBA Western Conference Finals before succumbing to the eventual NBA Champions the Los Angeles Lakers.

If you're a sports fan, I assume you've already heard about the new Iverson/Billups trade that went down yesterday afternoon. The Denver Nuggets sent Allen Iverson to Detroit for Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and a sack of jock straps (aka some dude named Cheikh Samb). That is a very serious trade that shakes up both teams just a few games into the '08-'09 season.
"In this league, six or seven years is an eternity to have a core together. So when a situation like this presents... Read Full Story
Beast of the Night: Chauncey Billups rained on someone’s parade in Philly last night, putting up 31 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 steal and 2 turnovers. He hit 4 threes, shot 53 percent (8-15) from the floor and 100 percent (11-11) from the free throw line. Billups clearly wasn’t fazed by the frenzy last night and is on a nice streak. He remains one of the best fantasy point guards out there.
Noteworthy Lines:
Allen Iverson – 4-11 FG (36%), 3-4 FT (75%), 11 Pts, 5 Reb, 6 Ast, 1... Read Full Story
Now that is some big news for a Monday afternoon.
The shakeup promised by Detroit Pistons president Joe Dumars after last season’s Eastern Conference finals has materialized just two games into the new season.
The Pistons have reached an agreement in principle with the Denver Nuggets to acquire guard Allen Iverson in exchange for Detroit mainstays Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess, club sources told ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.
This is huge news. How will it shape the East and better... Read Full Story

Score one for Chauncey Billups. The chess matchup between the Lakers and Nuggets took a different turn in Game 2. Lakers Coach Jackson geared his perimeter defense to smothering Billups in Game 1, putting Kobe Bryant on him for much of the game, but Billups made the proper adjustment in Game 2 by being more aggressive off the dribble instead of settling for long-range shots... It is half time of the Raptors/Nuggets game and we are calling it a day. Down 19, looking sloppy and there is no point staying up to watch the slaughter.
Chauncey Billups is killing the Raps so why not take a look at his fancy shoes, the Billups TS Creator.
In terms of technology, it is the same as the McGrady TS Creator . The main difference is that Billups’ shoe is in Piston’s colours (a collectors’ edition now) and the shoe features a graphic which calls out his nickname “Mr. Big... Read Full Story
There hasn't been that much trade talk this season because of all the deals that went down in the off season like Jermaine O'Neal going to Toronto and Ron Artest making the move to Houston, but I got to say I didn't see this one coming! It appears the Denver Nuggets and the Detroit Pistons have agreed in principle to a trade that would bring point guard Chauncey Billups, power forward Antonio McDyess and center Cheikh Samb. At first I thought this trade was bad for both teams, but after... Read Full Story
OK OK - so I’ve never met the guy. The best I can do is read what sports writers and columnists write. Still, I can read between the lines: Mark Warkentein, the acting GM of the Nuggets, pulled off a fantastic move - he traded an aging superstar for a top-10 point guard (the most important position in the game), a young 7 footer, and luxury tax relief . Here’s my impression of how this deal went down:
Mark Warkentien, incorrectly vilified for dumping Marcus Camby (that trade was made by... Read Full Story
The first major trade during the 2008-2009 NBA campaign took place on Monday as according to various news outlets, the Denver Nuggets, and the Detroit Pistons have consummated what has to be referred to as a blockbuster deal. According to reports, the Pistons will send point guard Chauncey Billups, forward Antonio McDyess, and center Cheikh Samb to Denver. In return Detroit will receive guard Allen Iverson.
It is not surprising that Detroit and Denver were willing to shake up their... Read Full Story
