, This past March, Robert Ebert presented at the TED Conference 2011.
At the conference, CNN reported, he told his story to fight against cancer and having numerous surgeries to reconstruct her jaw, and finally find her voice again through the Internet.
He told the audience, “These are my words, but it’s not my voice, it’s Alex’s voice best computer I could find, which comes as standard equipment on all Macintosh. ”
He added, “For most of my life, I never gave a second thought to my ability to speak, was like breathing. In those days, I lived in a fool’s paradise. After surgery for Cancer took away my ability to speak, eat or drink, I was forced to enter this virtual world in which a computer does some of my living for me. ”
He recruited his family and friends to help tell the rest of his story as he told the hearing a single voice can be “monotonous.” The audience listened as his wife and friends said Chaz Ebert struggles with surgery and how it has never been told flat out he would never speak again, but after numerous surgeries failed “It is become clear. ”
Ebert said after communicating by writing in books, he used a computer voice, he had found on his computer. For a while, he explained that he had a British accent, which nicknamed Chaz, but finally settled on the voice of Alex.
