Chelsea Clinton Dodges Lewinsky Question (Again)
For the second time in as many weeks, Chelsea Clinton, faced a question from the public on the Monica Lewinsky scandal that dominated her father’s second presidential term.
Campaigning for her mother on Monday at North Carolina State, a student posed the question to Chelsea, insisting that the issue was of public concern, since the scandal took place while Bill Clinton was serving as president.
Chelsea Clinton strongly disagreed and said the matter was “none of your business,” and “that is something that is personal to my family. I’m sure there are things that are personal to your family…”
Just last week, the young Clinton, faced a similar question about Lewinsky at Butler University.
While Chelsea has been publicly campaigning for her mother at college and university campuses, the Clintons have insisted that she is not a public figure and subject to personal questions about herself or the family.
The Clintons cannot have it both ways. Once they tossed Chelsea on the campaign trail to do her mother’s bidding, she became a public person and all bets are off. As long as she remained a private citizen, she was protected from such prying and personal questions, but not anymore.
