It was introduced on September 29, 1966 — the start of the 1967 model year — as a Ford Mustang competitor. The car shared the same platform and major components with the Pontiac Firebird, also introduced in 1967. Four distinct generations of the car were produced before production ended in 2002. A new Camaro will roll off assembly lines in 2009.

Ever since the car was announced awhile back people have been anticipating and patiently waiting for photos and specs on the reborn muscle car. Even though the car is not set to come out on the market until 2010 there is still speculation that the car will have 400 horsepower from either the 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 of the Corvette or the 6.0-liter L76 V-8 powering the Pontiac G8, meaning you will be able to practically fly.
