WHEN I first heard rumors that Chevrolet was going to produce the 2012 Camaro ZL1, I thought, “Fine, G.M. is building a Camaro with a supercharger ... engineering manager of the ZL1 program. “But for the other 1 percent, it was a big issue.”

On April 20, Lizzy Musi made the news when the 21-year old drag racer and daughter of veteran racer Pat Musi lost control of her 1968 Chevrolet Camaro during the third qualifying session of Summit Racing Top Sportsman at the 2012 ADRL Spring Drags III at Bristol Dragway. Chevrolet says its new Camaro ZL1 is now officially a member in the 11-second club -- at least when it comes to drag racing the quarter mile. The team ran a stock Camaro ZL1 with an automatic transmission over the quarter mile in 11.93 seconds, hitting 116 m.p.h. A Camaro ZL1 with stick shift ran the same distance in 11.96 seconds.
