Click for a larger view. On Monday we posted a photo of a mystery vehicle’s shifter. The guesses are in, and here’s your answer: that’s the shifter from a 1972 Chevrolet Vega GT. Congratulations to thomph for guessing correctly and quickly. He’ll be receiving a  Save the Manuals t-shirt . This photo came from our June 1972 tire test. Pop-up the hood of this custom made 1971 Chevrolet Vegamino (based on the Vega of course…) and you’ll find that there’s nothing there. Take a look at the truck bed and you’ll discover a Chevy 350 V8 engine located behind the cabin. Yes, this Vegamino features a rear-wheel drive, mid-engine layout!
