Tiger’s Niece Cheyenne A Freshman At Wake Forest
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP)—When Cheyenne Woods steps up to the tee, it’s obvious golf is in her DNA. She’s got the firm grip and a fluid swing, not to mention the almond-shaped eyes and wide smile of her uncle Tiger.
With her Wake Forest University golf coach and teammates watching at a recent practice, the pressure was on the team’s lone freshman. She wasn’t too happy with a tee shot that landed near a tree, but pumped the next through some branches, over sand traps and onto the green.
“My mom and I would go to the park every night and hit balls because she didn’t know what a driving range was,” Woods said. “That’s when I fell in love with it.”
Like Tiger, Woods got her first set of clubs as a youngster from the late Earl Woods Sr., her grandfather and Tiger’s father. He taught her how to swing, as he had years earlier with his now famous son, during spring break visits to his California home. He visited her home in Phoenix to watch her play events when she was younger.
“I knew it was going to be kind of hard managing my time, getting used to college life and being busy with golf,” Woods said. “So that’s what I’ve expected.”
Susan Woods said playing college golf will give Cheyenne opportunities to mature and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with being on a team. Eventually, Cheyenne wants to play professionally.
“I’m looking forward to the travel and being on a collegiate team, and playing in the college-level tournaments—meeting new people, making new friends,” Woods said. “It’s kinda just like starting new.”

Hey a couple of days a go i jumped down from about 2feet and went over on my ankle. Within half hour there was lots of swelling around the front/outside part of my ankle (looks like a golf ball!!) and some bruising near my toes. It hurts too much to weightbear, and to actively move my ankle altough if i slide it along the floor i can get it to about 90degrees, as long as no pressure goes through my foot or ankle.
I went to A+E on the same day and the doctor i saw didn’t even examine my ankle. It was xrayed (from the front and medial side, and excuding my foot). The doctor told me there was no fracture and just to take 1 ibuprofen 3 times a day. I was told not to strap it or use a tubi grip, and to walk on it as normal.
It hurts so much when i try and put any weight on that ankle. It now been 2 days, i’ve been icing it regularly, and taking paracetamol and nurofen. Theres no difference in the swelling, just more bruising. Now the pain goes up my leg when i knock it or try and weightbear.
Any ideas on what i should do? Does it sound like a simple sprain or should i go back to A+E?
Thanks (hopefully)
Go back to A&E, I had the exact same injury 2 years ago and it still is not right – doctor said “da way you is walking on it, is no broken” They could not tell from x-ray whether it was broken or not. Go back and make sure they know you can’t weight bear and get proper x-rays done, you may have chipped the bone and this would still be classed as a break and indeed require help in physiotherapy.
I never got this option as the doctor involved refused to even talk me through the x-rays on my ankle.
The swelling is still there, I can’t straighten my foot and it hurts in bed.
Don’t be put off, the hospitals are chock full of swine flu at the moment, but you need a proper analyst on this injury. Go at 7am, before the regulars hit. Be convincing, don’t be brave, the doctors see a “coper” if you are and send you home with no proper diagnosis.

The key to early diagnosis and doctors are just throw an antidepressant at a patient and go golfing.
I will tell you, kidney cancer symtpoms: Unexplained anxiety, high blood pressure, certain foods will aggravate the symptoms. At a certain point the blood pressure cannot be contoled with just one medication. Did I mention the inability to sleep? The anxiety is so bad that it will not let your body go into a “rest” state.
Some people don’t get symptoms I realize, but get a grip doctors!!!! If someone has anxiety and high blood pressure, something is wrong!!!! People just don’t get anxiety for nothing! Your body knows something is not right, covering up the symptoms is not the answer!
I could have died if I took the antidepressants and blood pressure pills and not complained…. but I went into the emergency room and doctors office so many times they started to think I was just nuts…. they all threw me out pumped full of ativan and piece of paper. Stupid stupid stupid!!! My cancer was at the point where it could have broken out of the kidney by the time they got around to it…. I have had these symtpoms off and on for 8 years, but it got worse in the past 7 months…. I am so blessed by God they caught it in time…. I know I am going to die someday, and maybe I will get cancer again… but it’s the doctors I am upset with, they won’t LISTEN!!!
I asked an EMT why my blood pressure was out of control…… he said I don’t know…… CT SCAN FOR CANCER STUPID!!!!!
I changed doctors. I changed to the VA doctor, it’s free. Maybe taking out the financial factor will help.
the cancer did not spread…. it remained inside of the kidney.
WRONG!!!! Kidney cancer produces renin which can cause high blood pressure in some patients, and kidneys control blood pressure and hormone balance…. you are wrong! After my surgery I got back to normal again. I think your arguing just to argue… you can’t be that ignorant… if you are, you shouldn’t be in the medical field!!
not to mention rapid heartbeat….
Thanks Bright Future. I am not really too enraged, it’s just easier to write anonymously and use harsh language when I really don’t feel that way, it’ just like the media, you grab attention any way you can to get your point across and create an emotional response… thus generating the feedback your looking for….
Anyways….. I agree, Doctors are so arrogant, and they won’t listen to you, they think they know what you need, and they think you don’t know what your saying when you describe your symptoms… they say “no that isn’t right, you don’t feel like that….” Like a jedi mind trick or something…..
You’re right some people do not get symptoms and you apparently are one of them, as anxiety, high blood pressure and inability to sleep as not symptoms of kidney cancer and there would be no reason to do a CT for these symptoms. Even if they could be due to cancer it would be very advanced after 8 years.
