With Matt Capps seemingly on his way to the Nationals and the Cubs still in need of a right handed set-up man at the back of their bullpen, I ask, why not turn to an all too familiar face in Kevin Gregg?
Let me start out by saying I am a Cubs fan, and this suggestion is in no way meant as ill will towards the North Siders.
Simply put, Kevin Gregg is not a closer, at least not in large market such as Chicago where each outing is put under a...

In the 70s, when Wrigley Field was a rat-infested, urine-soaked tomb, I attended a few Cubs' games that I might describe as a circus, but neither thrills or a rodeo were to be had. This item, however, seems to provide...

In the offseason, much is made of the comings and goings of established major league players in free agency.
But many often overlook the same thing happening in the minor leagues.
In the "Recapping Minor League Free Agent Losses" series, I'll be looking at what, if anything, each team is losing at the minor league levels.
I'm not going to bother covering every player, because not all of them are very important and I have little to say about...

Randy Hundley missed a turn on his way to Bloomington on Tuesday, delaying his arrival at a Young Men’s Club luncheon. Yet, “the question” stayed on his trail. A minor detour wasn’t going to keep it from following him to the Ozark House Restaurant banquet room.
After a few opening remarks, the former Chicago Cubs’ catcher [...]

After a seemingly endless era of Cubs management trying their hardest to trade Milton Bradley, his short tenure on the north-side has (almost) officially come to a close.
Larry Stone of the Seattle Times reports that Bradley will be taking his raw offensive talent (and volatile attitude) all the way up to Seattle, to join the Mariners in their very busy offseason. They will reportedly be moving 30-year...

- Winter meetings did little to answer Chicago Cubs' questions (news.google.com)
The New York Yankees are close to making the biggest splash of the Winter Meetings, thus far, by acquiring centerfielder Curtis Granderson in a three-team trade that also involves the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Detroit Tigers.
In the trade, the Yankees would receive another offensive weapon to add to their lineup and a great defensive centerfielder, but it also brings up an interesting question.
What happens with Melky Cabrera?
This is where...

With the dust still settling from the acquisition of Curtis Granderson in New York, the Yankees have some decisions to make about their 2010 outfield.
What happens to Melky Cabrera? Do they entertain the idea of bringing back Johnny Damon or Hideki Matsui? Are they done adding outfielders?
This might be the perfect time for the Chicago Cubs to give the Bronx Bombers a call and ask about Nick Swisher's availability.
Swisher could some into...

Sam Fuld is now back playing for Aragua Tigres in Venezuela. He has been there less than a week because he was a little preoccupied with the birth of his first child a bouncing baby boy ( 8.2 pounds ) was born on Dec 3. I rather enjoy this bit from one of the local paper's in New Hampshire where he lives.
"The Cubs reportedly are interested in trading outfielder Milton Bradley, which could increase Fuld's chances of making the team out of...

What should the Cubs do with Sam Fuld?
In my opinion its clear that Fuld can play. He managed a .299 average, which is higher than average.
I hust think if Fuld has a good obp why not let him be a starter and the lead off man in the lineup. He can get on base for the big RBI guys (LEE, soriano, Rami)
You must also remember all the great catches that Fuld made, catches that possibly changed the outcome of the game. He also has speed. I say put...

The Chicago Cubs have an outfielder who tends to miss games due to injury, flashes brilliance, makes a lot of money and struggles with his attitude from time to time. His name is Alfonso Soriano. He turns 34 in January. In the last two seasons, Soriano has managed to hit just .260/.323/.476 in 226 games played. His defense in left field is suspect. Few players in baseball enjoy more job security.
Milton Bradley had an off year in 2009...
