Would You Report Child Abuse?

Shocking statistics were released last week by the child advocacy group, Safe Horizon, who reported that in a recent survey, three quarters of Americans admitted to believing that a child they knew was being abused, but only 12 percent ever reported the suspected abuse to authorities! Though 78 percent of people surveyed said they suspected they’d seen abuse, 33 percent remained quiet because they “didn’t want to get involved.” How sad is that!?

Currently, in New York City, the majority of child abuse is reported by teachers, police and hospital workers– but we all have a responsibility to keep our children safe! So the next time your gut tells you that a child you know is being abused, step up and do something! You may save a child’s life!
