Japan will face South Korea tonight at 9:30est to determine the WBC champions. Japan is defending this title which they acquired in 2006 and will place Hisashi Iwakuma on the mound to face Korea’s Jung Keun Bong . At first it may seem difficult to care about a bunch of players whose names you can’t pronounce but when you look into the pride and competitive nature of these to teams its easy to see why this has the makings to be an instant classic. Japan carries many familiar MLB names on their roster Kosuke Fukudome (cubs), Kenji Johjima (Mariners), Akinori Iwamura (Rays), Daisuke Matsuzaka ... Read Full Story

South Korean outfielder Choo Shin-Soo was cleared Wednesday to keep playing in the World Baseball Classic after being examined by Cleveland Indians team doctors. Choo had been bothered by a sore left triceps muscle and the Major League Baseball club worried the injury might have some connection to 2007 ligament transplant surgery in his left elbow. "He had a full examination, and all went well," Indians general manager Mark Shapiro said. "We had an uneasy feeling with him on a different continent. He said he was sore, but now it is all gone. "With our attention to detail in this organization regarding medical issues, ... Read Full Story

Seattle Mariners star Ichiro Suzuki hit a two-out, two-run single in the top of the 10th, and Japan beat reigning Olympic champion South Korea 5-3 Monday night to win its second straight WBC title before a boisterous crowd of 54,846 at Dodger Stadium. The Japanese won the inaugural tournament three years ago, beating Cuba 10-6 in the finals at Petco Park in San Diego. Venezuela has a roster full of big-leaguers, South Korea just one. Nevertheless, the reigning Olympic champions reached the finals of the second World Baseball Classic with ease Saturday night. Cleveland Indians outfielder Choo Shin-Soo hit a three-run homer to cap a five-run first, Yoon Suk-Min allowed two runs in 6 1-3 innings, and South Korea beat mistake-prone Venezuela 10-2 at Dodger Stadium before an enthusiastic crowd of 43,378 that included Commissioner Bud Selig. There have been a lot of people who have followed in Rob Neyer's footsteps over the years, but there still isn't anyone better at writing stuff that pisses off mainstream baseball writers: Ryan Howard is pretty good. I mean, he's no Shin-Soo Choo. But pretty good, for sure. You probably think I'm just some snot-nosed blogger trying to make a name for myself. You're right. After all, it's patently ridiculous to suggest that a Cleveland...

I gotta tell you folks, there is not enough love for a guy that saved my fantasy baseball season.  I picked him up on the Waiver Wire in Mid-May when one of my Utility slots opened up, Carlos Delgrado (Carlos Del WHO???) I picked up a Shin-Soo Choo.  It's a guy that no one talks about, but was pretty valuable.  At the time he was batting .286 with 5 HR, 6 SB, 21 Runs, and 23 RBI. All he did when I picked him up in Mid-May was bat .304, go 15...
