Last year we were shopping for a new quality laptop, but we also wanted to make sure we got a good deal. When shopping in our local electronic stores, we were inundated with signs for laptops on sale but when we inquired as to the details, we were told those laptops were not good quality and were quickly pointed in the direction of more expensive laptops.
Totally disgusted by the service and information, I turned to online retailers that have cold hard facts listed on the product page for notebooks on sale. After reviewing the details of the HP Pavilion dv6-3010us 15.6-Inch Laptop for $560.99, I decided not to continue considering this as I wasn’t able to confirm what software comes already pre-installed. I found a few other laptops; a HP Pavilion DV6-2150US 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black) for $649.99, and a HP G60-630US 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black) for $579.99, but chose to steer clear of these and go with a Toshiba Toshiba Mini NB255-N245 10.1-Inch Netbook (Black Oynx) for $299.99 simply for the fact that the price was right, and the technical details to include what software was included (Microsoft Windows 7 Starter) was clearly laid out on the website. Although I’m certain this Toshiba Netbook won’t be one that I’ll keep a significantly long amount of time, I do find it a great value in that it was just a couple of hundred bucks and I didn’t invest so much money into it that I felt the need to pay a couple of more bucks for an extended warranty.
I’m considering purchasing one for each of my daughters for Christmas because it’s pretty easy to use, connects to the internet quickly, software is compatible with their school software, and they can choose the color and style. Don’t be mislead by store signs stating they have a sale. I firmly believe stores inflate their prices pretty close to MSRP, just so they can then lower the price and state they’re having a sale. Online prices and technical details are in plain black and white, and you don’t have to deal with pushy sales people.
