The St. Louis Cardinals entered the 2009 season with one big question mark: Could Chris Carpenter stay healthy? After nine games it looks as if he could be headed to the DL for the ninth time since 1999. Carpenter apparently strained his rib-cage grounding out to third in the top of the fourth inning last night in Arizona. He came out to warm up in the fourth, but the pain became to much for him to continue. The Cardinals led the game 3-0 at the time, but went on to lose for just the third time all season, this time in extras, 7-6. Tony ... Read Full Story

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter was scratched from his last start of the spring due to a sore calf. Carpenter was placed on the 15-day disabled list today. He suffered a strained rib cage in his start yesterday at Arizona. After feeling a pinch in the torso ... Read Full Story

Over the past couple of seasons, St. Louis Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter has battled serious injuries. Scheduled to make a start this Friday, Carpenter has been scratched due to soreness in his calf. But it appears to only be a cautionary move. “ He could pitch if it was the regular season ,” manager Tony La Russa said. “But we don’t need to push." Carpenter has pitched extremely well throughout spring training. Through 23 2/3 innings pitched, Carpenter has an ERA of 1.52 and a 2-1 record. In 2008, Carpenter had an ERA of 1.76, but he made only three starts and pitched only ... Read Full Story

In the 2009 NL Cy Young race, for example, people who look primarily to players’ skill sets supported Tim Lincecum. Writers who decide based on the impact a pitcher has on a team endorsed Chris Carpenter. And voters with limited cognitive abilities to analyze statistics cast their ballots for Adam Wainwright...

Twitter.  By this point you’ve formed some sort of opinion on the micro-blogging site. And that opinion is usually in one of two camps and only in one of two camps. Camp No. 1: I hate Twitter. I don’t know why anyone would want to know what I’m doing all the time. It’s so stupid, I’m not surprised it’s popular in America.  Camp No. 2: I simply cannot live without Twitter. It integrates perfectly into my life and is bountiful in its usefulness...
