The Chicago Bears announced that rookie free safety Chris Conte will join wide receiver Johnny Knox on injured reserve. Knox underwent successful surgery to stabilize a vertebra in his mid-to-lower back on Monday and faces a three-to-four month recovery. The Bears drafted safety Chris Conte with the No. 93rd pick in the third-round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Conte played his first three seasons at the University of California as a cornerback.
