When the Houston Texans hosted the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday, a special fan was in attendance to watch Texas native and Seahawks defensive end Cory Redding take the field. Redding honored his former high school coach and Humble resident Al Segura with the “Symetra Heroes in the Classroom” award.  

Casey Bradley of Zumbrota will return to Minnesota this weekend as a member of the Seattle Seahawks coaching staff. Bradley is in his first year as the defensive coordinator for the 3-6 Seahawks, who play the Vikings in the Metrodome at noon Sunday.

Seahawks coach Jim Mora stresses that he'd like to see some attitude up front with the offensive linemen. Is Seattle just too soft?  

Seahawks defensive back Roy Lewis says he is appealing a $5,000 fine from the league for a late hit. Lewis said Thursday he was docked for hitting Detroit's Derrick Williams out of bounds at the end of a kickoff return Sunday. He was penalized with a personal foul. Lewis says teammate Lance Laury was also fined $5,000 by the NFL for a late hit on the same play.  

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh is missing practice Tuesday to attend the funeral of former Cincinnati Bengals teammate Chris Henry. Seattle coach Jim Mora said Monday that Houshmandzadeh was on his way to Louisiana to attend the service and would return Tuesday night. Mora says Houshmandzadeh "was almost like a big brother" to Henry.  

Seahawks long snapper Kevin Houser is hoping to be out of the hospital in time for Christmas Eve after doctors re-inflated his collapsed lung. Seattle coach Jim Mora said the 32-year-old veteran of 10 seasons was sitting up in his hospital room Monday and watching "Ren and Stimpy" cartoons with his wife and kids.  

Matt Hasselbeck is the most glib Seahawk. Yet even he can't describe his team's sorry state after losing to a one-win team this late in a season for the first time since Seattle's 1976 expansion year. Nate Burleson has a high ankle sprain and may not play again this season for the Seahawks. Coach Jim Mora said Wednesday that Burleson is out for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay. Mora says the team has a decision to make on what they want to do with him over the final three games of the season. He could end up on injured reserve to clear a roster spot.  

Josh Freeman walked over to Tampa Bay's sideline after his ninth interception in just over two games. The 21-year-old rookie looked first-year coach Raheem Morris in the eye and calmly said: "I got it." Morris' reply: "Go get it." He did. Jim Mora has passed frustration and entered desperation in Seattle. He needs guys who swallow metal. "I'd like a whole team of nail eaters!" the coach of the 5-8 Seahawks bellowed this week, during a fist-pounding, voice-raising call for more "nastiness," more "dirtbags" on the field to combat losing -- and a league-wide perception that Seattle is soft.  

For the third time in three seasons, Seattle has brought in Jeff Robinson to be the Seahawks' long-snapper. Robinson was signed on Tuesday to replace Kevin Houser. Houser was placed on injured reserve after suffering a collapsed lung following the Seahawks 24-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
