PORT OF SPAIN : Chris Gayle resigned as captain of West Indies cricket team, according to WICB CEO Donald Peters, who is also speculated to be sent on leave, indicating uncertain times for Board ahead of Champions Trophy in Pakistan in September next. “CEO Dr Donald Peters confirmed West Indies captain Chris Gayle had indeed formally tendered his resignation as skipper on Saturday night by letter,” a newspaper reported. “He, however, did not give details as to Gayle`s reasons,” it added. PORT-OF-SPAIN : Chris Gayle is considering stepping down as West Indies captain after just 15 matches in charge because he is frustrated with selection policies, a Trinidad newspaper reported. The Trinidad and Tobago Express quoted West Indies Cricket Board chief executive Donald Peters as saying: “I am aware he is considering not making himself available for the captaincy.” Peters said, however, that the board has not received any official notification from the left-handed Jamaican opener. I remember his debut. he was hesitant to get forward even to slow medium pace of Robin Singh and was bowled 8 balls later, for 1, in that Sahara cup ODI series 1999.. Even today, Chris Gayle remains a layed back character who likes to fire from the crease.
