Good news on the free agent front for the Steelers, as guard Chris Kemoeatu and the team came to terms today on a deal that will pay him $20 million over the next five years according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Reports came out Friday in the NY Daily News that the Jets were looking at Kemoeatu, but reports are that deal was about for the same amount that the Steelers were offering, and he decided to stay with the Black and Gold. “Obviously, he’s very happy,” said his agent, Ken Vierra. “The Jets were extremely aggressive and professional. At the end of the day, ... Read Full Story

Nothing new on the early start of free agency, other than the Steelers won’t have to put up with Bart Scott anymore. One note out of the New York Daily News is that the Jets (the team that signed Scott), has made an offer OG Chris Kemoeatu. The report says that the deal is to be at least $4 million-per-year. The paper says that they are targeting the massive Kemoeatu (6-3, 344) as the replacement for RG Brandon Moore, who was released yesterday. On a positive note, the paper also says that Kemoeatu is said to be considering an offer from the Steelers. The ... Read Full Story

With free agency just a few days away, the Steelers are going to try and lock up guard Chris Kemoeatu before he hits the free agent market. Today’s Post-Gazette reports that talks with the big man have already started: The Steelers have been talking aplenty to try to keep guard Chris Kemoeatu, but that could become a moot, or mute, point in the end. They are negotiating with Kemoeatu, who finished his first season as their starting left guard in his fourth year. "It used to be Pittsburgh's time, now it's Cincinnati's time, and it'll probably be that way for a while. They're like black and white TV, we're like color TV." -Chad Johnson, Dec. 4, 2005 Well, it only took three years, 11 months and 20 days, but Chad Johnson’s prediction that the Bengals would be the new emperors of the AFC North finally came true.  With a gritty victory at Heinz Field last Sunday, the artists formerly known as the Bungles...

Last year in the Super Bowl, the Pittsburgh Steelers won their sixth Super Bowl title, the most of any team in NFL history. But this piece isn’t about sports teams themselves, it’s about their names. Think about it: Pittsburgh Steelers. Makes sense, right? Pittsburgh became most famous for being an industrial, blue-collar town that relied heavily upon its steel industry. Truly, many team names in the sports world make sense: • The Cleveland...

via media.kansascity.com Very slim pickings today. Chiefs coach Todd Haley has mastered the art of praising the opponent, but it’s not hype when he says this week’s foes, the Pittsburgh Steelers, are the model for what type of program he’s trying to build in Kansas City. “That would never be a bad thing,” Haley said. “This has been a long time in the making for the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is something that was established back in the ’70s...

Image via Pittsburgh Steelers fan Zack Heddinger is suffering from brain damage and blindness. Why this is pertinent on the Chicago scale is unfortunate, as Heddinger says the effects are the result of having been poisoned by Bears fans at a local bar following a 17-14 Bears victory over the Steelers in September. The Pittsburgh Channel reports that Heddinger, 46, has "basically been blind for two months," following the incident...
