Chris Matthews is a former political speech writer and Washington news Bureau chief, now host of political commentary talk shows on MSNBC -- The Chris Matthews Show and Hardball with Chris Matthews. Matthews' style is loud, sharp-tongued and confrontational. But he delivers sarcasm with a smile.

Having worked for Democratic stalwart Tip o'Neil, former Speaker of the House from Massachusettes, as well as for former president Jimmy Carter, the David Brinkley Award winner has also uncovered a scandal or two, taught at universities and written New York Times best sellers, notably, Now, Let me Tell What I Really Think (2001).

In spite of his liberal history, Matthews' shows are frequnted by conservative guests. In May of 07, Matthews hosted the first Republican presidential debate for the '08 race. Having covered presidental races for 20 years, Matthews will be visible in upcoming months.
