The rumors continue about former Raiders and Bucs coach Jon Gruden coming in to take over for Jim Zorn. The USA Today reports on how Gruden is trying to stay far away from the rumors of taking over in Washington, as well as recent rumors of being the coach in Louisville:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback has to be one of the unluckiest players in the National Football League right now. First he has a splenectomy (operation to remove his spleen), then he finds out he is #4 on the team’s QB depth chart, which has to at the very least be somewhat unsettling to him. Physically, he is doing just fine, save for his left arm which has jinxed him on occasion. But tonight’s game against the Houston Texans will more than likely determine his future in a Bucs... Panthers head coach John... Read Full Story
A wild and tragic Week 1 gives way to another slate of NFL battles this weekend. One can assume that there won’t be any signal-pirating going on from the sidelines after the Patriots and Bill Belichick received Roger Goodell’s wrath a few days ago.
Expect some teams who dominated last week to get an ugly reminder that it’s too early to call themselves this year’s Cinderella Team or think 16-0. Strap yourselves in, football fans!

Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden is known for having one of the most complex playbooks in football. It might not be as thick as the 700-pager that Al Saunders makes the Redskins memorize, but the Gruden system is so complicated in its verbiage that quarterbacks can get tongue-tied calling plays.
Running back Michael Bennett, who’s new to Tampa Bay after getting traded there from Kansas City, tells the St. Petersburg Times he’s struggling to learn the Gruden... Read Full Story

People I talk to say Gruden thinks his team is going to sneak up on some opponents this year, and based on the flurry of veteran signings it made this offseason, you can bet that Gruden values every roster spot even more this season and will do his best to stave off mediocrity again wih a win-at... Usain Bolt said he had no intentions of playing professional football in the United States, and apparently he has no intention of testing his speed against the NFL's best either.
