It has been a turbulent offseason for former Baltimore Orioles catcher Craig Tatum.First, the 28-year-old Tatum was put on waivers by the Orioles in early October, only to be claimed days later by the Houston Astros.Last week, the Astros designated Tatum for assignment, and on Monday, the Arizona Diamondbacks claimed the journeyman catcher off of Houston's waivers. The Diamondbacks already have options at the catcher's position on their depth...
HOUSTON (AP) - Free agent catcher Chris Snyder has agreed to a

Snyder can make extra money in 2012; he'll earn $125,000 for 300 plate appearances, $125,000 for 325, $125,000 for 350, $125,000 for 375, $250,000 for 400, $250,000 for 425, $250,000 for 450 and $250,000 for 475. He also has various bonuses for awards.

Snyder is worth nowhere near that, and there hasn't been much fuss about them cutting him loose. That said, I'm pretty confident he'd sign for around half that (or less) if the Pirates were one of only a few teams willing to give him a Major League deal (one-year) for 2012.
There are...
