Christian Bale Is Not Too Snobby for 'Terminator'

Welsh actor Christian Bale didn't want to be in Terminator Salvation. He didn't even bother to read the script, the first time around. He told Entertainment Weekly, "I just thought, the mythology is dead."
Salvation is the fourth installment in the Terminator franchise, after all, and was the project of former music video director McG, whose biggest credits to date are the Charlie's Angels remakes. Bale was just too cool for it.
But McG had his heart set on Bale, and flew to Bale's London home to change his mind. Bale said of his decision-making process:
I had people telling me, 'Don't do it, Christian. Don't go with that guy.' In a strange way, I like the fact that he keeps his name that way because it does him no friggin' favors. But people hear it and they go 'F--- him!' People were telling me, 'Christian, you're too good for Terminator. And I'm thinking, I'm too good? I'm not a snob. I really f--ing enjoy watching a good action movie. Who do you think I am?!
The answer, at present: a man with a really bad temper.
