The Holy Spirit convicts us of the Truth that Jesus is the Christ. Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
When we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior then our spirit, that was dead, becomes alive, anew.Eph 2:4-5 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
The Holy Spirit lives in us, in our “new” spirit. Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
1 Cor 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
The work of the Holy Spirit is to sanctify us. That means to recreate us into the image of Jesus Christ. 2 Thess 2:13 because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth,
We assist (or allow) the Holy Spirit to do this when we practice the disciplines. I think the three most important disciplines are prayer,1 Thess 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the LORD

We know this is happening when we “naturally” demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit.Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Gal 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
If we have the power of God “in us”, then what do we have power over? We have power over the most destructive force in the universe, “sin.” Rom 6:6-7 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin.
